Why This Must Be Read: This is quite possibly one of the funniest, most random stories about how John and Rodney get together. It all starts as a scientific experiment (to a certain definition of the word 'scientific'). The dialogue is brilliant and the characters spot-on, and Rodney's utter seriousness towards the experiment is both hilarious and endearing.

Rodney waved a hand. "It's displacement," he said dismissively. "We're displacing our anxiety about being trapped in the middle of another galaxy with life-sucking aliens bent on killing us all."

"So instead of worrying about certain death, we're obsessing over the size of another man's penis." John considered. "Seems healthy enough to me."

Why This Must Be Read: The setup on this one makes you wonder if it's going to turn into a classic-style hurt/comfort story, with Radek injured and Ronon helping him get better. But it's both simpler than that and more complex, and in the end, the story's a sweet, short (1000 words or so) look at how Ronon deals with Radek's simple sense of gratitude for saving his life.

There's a little bit too much reflection on Ronon's sexual history (and how it might apply to the current moment) for me to call this gen, but it's very close; the story is not about their relationship, and they don't get involved.

Short and sweet, [livejournal.com profile] spike21's fic is based off the prompt "Zelenka/Ronon, balcony, gauze." The fic is an interesting look at both the aftermath of Radek finally gathering up his courage to approach Elizabeth and the budding friendship between Radek and Ronon that will eventually be more. There is the added bonus of excellent Rodney characterization thrown in as well, even if he never enters the scenes.

Why This Must Be Read: Radek/Ronon is one of my favourite pairings, hands down. And I place the credit (or blame) for that on [livejournal.com profile] chopchica and this story. This was posted shortly after the beginning of Season 2, and if my memory serves, Radek and Ronon had not actually shared any screen-time. But it really worked for me.

You have Radek being observant, Ronon being big and menacing, and Rodney snarking. There's also a little Sheppard/McKay in there for those whose tastes run that way ^_^ All in all, one of my favourites.

Why This Must Be Read: This is the only story I have found with this pairing so far and I have to say I loved it. Dex was new when this was wrote and I found his voice and actions to be very true and clear. Zelenka comes across very well and with a back drop of Sheppard/McKay how can you go wrong.
