Why This Must Be Read: This "Shrine" tag has a soft, sweet feeling that's perfect for the episode. There is a lovely sense of team, and a strong Teyla POV, weaving her daily life on Atlantis (her baby, Kanaan and daily routine) into her interactions with her team.

Why This Must Be Read: This is very short (double drabble) but sweet and well worth reading. I love the slowly unfolding realization of what's happening.

Why This Must Be Read: Both in canon and in fic, the characters' lives sometimes seem like one crazy, life-threatening adventure after another -- which is why I cherish stories that depict the quiet, peaceful moments in between. Teyla is visiting friends in the Athosian settlement, expecting John to pick her up in the evening and shuttle her back to Atlantis, but Rodney shows up instead (for the flight practice) and soon gets roped into having dinner with the Athosians. It's a sweet, gentle story, funny in places and touching in others, unfolding softly like dusk settling on the mainland. I particularly enjoyed getting a glimpse of Teyla's life outside Atlantis, and the circle of friends that she maintains apart from her friends in the city.

Why This Must Be Read: This gen teamfic features a late-season-four Teyla who is trying to deal with the changes in her body and her changing relationship with her team, and an offworld trading mission with some dire consequences for Rodney. Everyone is well characterized, but this is an especially wonderful look at Teyla -- I love the little touches, like her pregnancy exercise regimen or the way she misses team movie nights -- and there are light moments of humor as well as angsty h/c.

Why This Must Be Read: This is an oldie but a goodie, circa mid-season 2. An earthquake at a power station leaves Rodney and Teyla trapped in the rubble, with the damaged power-generation equipment on the verge of blowing up. The story is told from their point of view as they cope with their injuries and the desperation of their situation; meanwhile, over the radio, you get the other half of the story, as an increasingly frantic Sheppard tries to rescue his teammates and follow Rodney's instructions to shut down the overloading generator. It's tense and tightly paced, with just the right amount of h/c and team worry, and some nice little character moments between an early-season Rodney and Teyla who are still feeling each other out.

Why This Must Be Read: This sweet missing scene for The Shrine takes place on the flooded world near the beginning of the episode. It's a lovely character portrait of Teyla, dealing with the changes in the way she relates to her teammates since becoming a mother, and there's some nice h/c as she takes the lead in caring for Rodney while waiting for rescue to come.

Why This Must Be Read: One in seven to one in ten mothers experience post-partum depression, and Teyla is not immune. This is a warm and gently sad story in which Rodney's emotional cluelessness can't quite cover up his basic sweetness and affection for Teyla.
