Okay, I admit, I betaed this fic, so I'm not unbiased, but if I hadn't, I probably would not have read this lovely tag to a Stargate Atlantis episode.

It's a look at Sam still fitting into her role on Atlantis, uncertain in some things, experienced in others. Aelf's portrayal of Sam appears natural...er, as natural as it can be when you've got characters living in another galaxy dealing with space vampires and evil robots. In this case, the focus is on McKay dealing with the aftermath of "Miller's Crossing", and Sam's attempts to help them.

Aelf showcases the history and dynamic of Sam's relationship with Rodney that's spanned two series as well as her interaction with more recent acquaintances, such as Zelenka. The characterizations, especially of Carter and McKay, are spot on to the canon of both shows, and give a three dimensional view of the characters (including their warts and awkward moments), exploring how the trauma from events carry on past the 44 minutes of an episode (or series of episodes).

At its heart it shows the bond the Atlantis expedition members feel for each other, including how Sam fits into this dynamic.
