Why This Must Be Read: I was very happy to see that this fic is now complete, so I can rec it here :) I have been following it regularly as it has been posted. It is a really different take on "In the Line of Duty", with Jolinar initially taking Jack O'Neill as host, and surviving. There are many great and fun exchanges between O'Neill and Jolinar, and also a lot of wonderful scenes with SG-1 being there for one another.

Why This Must Be Read: It's 90% (or more) gen, but there are some sweet Sam/(Jolinar)/Martouf/Lantash scenes, which is why I am reccing it for this category. I love apocafic, and this is a wonderful, long one. Our heroes from the SGC have to flee from Earth when Apophis attacks and conquers Earth. The story has some wonderful world building, and some wonderful scenes where the now homeless Tau'ri try to make their homes on various bases, always on the run. The scenes from Earth, where we follow Mark and his family, now subjects of Apophis, are a nice way of showing what happens there.
Very different, very dark, but there are glimmers of hope here and there.

Why This Must Be Read: I'm so happy this story got completed this month so I could rec it! (Though I'm still sad it is over - I've been reading chapters of it for about a year.) Note that this story is predominantly GEN, though there is a little het (Sam/Jolinar/Martouf/Lantash). It's an epic story about Sam and Jolinar and how they slowly become friends. Yes, it's an AU from "In the Line of Duty". Jolinar survives and pretty much everything goes a little differently. Saying anything more would destroy the fun of discovering it as you read. Oh - and as the story unfolds we learn quite a lot about the Tok'ra life, culture, and society. Go read it - it is one of the very best stories about the Tok'ra and especially about Jolinar.

What follows is a fascinating internal struggle between Jolinar and Daniel, with arguments of morality and choice and keeping secrets, both for the sake of others and for themselves. Challenge and counter-challenge, needs and wants, caution and sacrifice, reluctant alliance - all vividly painted, and painfully real. And that glimmer of hope at the very end, when Jolinar redeems her final word to Daniel, will make you feel that maybe, just maybe, the whole thing was worthwhile.

Fugitive is long and satisfying, and a superb character study for both Daniel and Jolinar that you're sure to enjoy.

Why This Must Be Read:

This is, in my mind, one of the definitive fics on Sam's feelings about Jolinar and the Tok'ra through "Divide and Conquer."

gabolange gives us a fantastic Sam, along with a wonderful cast of supporting characters, trying to understand the other personality inside her, the memories that are not her own. We watch her struggle with her feelings toward Martouf and try to understand the relationship between Jolinar, Rosha, Martouf and Lantash while reliving what Jolinar did to escape from Netu.

Character study, fleshed-out minor characters, and symbiote-host dynamics, all wrapped up between the past and present, all achieved in under 3000 words.

Why This Must Be Read:
Good Lord! I do believe I just recc'ed a slash story! I'm usually quite firmly over in the Gen/Het camp, though I do occasionally stray over to the dark side... and this was one of the first fics to tempt me.

This is an interesting fic, set in a universe where it was Daniel who carried Jolinar and not Sam, which sets up a very intriguing dynamic, as Daniel lost his wife to the Goa'uld and carried all of that baggage into the experience.

Set post Netu, we see Martouf through this Daniel's eyes, and although he's still the same warm, engaging and sympathetic Tok'ra; Daniel's memories from Jolinar show us something darker.

And even though it's a slash fic - there's nothing too explicit, so go read and be intrigued by what could have been.
