Author's summary: Just the thing for a cold winter's day . . . a little heat.
Why This Must Be Read:
Pure, glorious, loving erotica. Delicious fireside sex.
After suffering through a mission that trapped the team offworld in an ice storm, Daniel comes home, exhausted and freezing, to a blizzard and a cold house. He starts the process of getting himself warm by laying in a fire, and then Jack comes by. In a nice alternative to the trope of 'combine body heat to stay alive offworld,' Feather brings Daniel and Jack home and gives them the leisure to warm up and unwind in front of a cozy fire, with time and privacy.
Excerpt:
He looked up and gazed into the flames again. The carpeted floor in front of the fireplace had finally warmed. Daniel smiled and put the book and mug aside, then took off his shirt and jeans, casting them carelessly on the couch, and stretched out on his back, fully naked. His body was finally warm enough to relax, and he felt himself sink deeply into the carpet, letting the floor completely support his weight. His body unwound but his mind was still racing, trying to make sense of the ruins. He tried to focus on calming things, but his over-tired brain kept darting back to the puzzle. What had happened in that place? Who had they been? What had happened to them? Had they been human?
Daniel sighed and rolled over, scooting as close to the fire as he could, letting the heat bake into him. He crossed his arms and rested his head on them, staring into the flickering light. If he could just sleep . . .
He heard a key in the door.

Date: 2008-02-03 04:04 pm (UTC)Even with umpteen bizillion icon slots donated to me by a very generous someone, I do the swap-out, swap-in thing a lot, and I'm the same way about having a handful that I will never part with. This Jack icon especially -- it was the first one I grabbed, and I'll never let it go.
Sometimes I long for the icons I have over at IJ, where the limits are a lot higher for all account levels. I find myself saying 'over there I have the perfect icon for commenting on this fic, aaaaaa!' But over there I spend forever going thru my icon dropdowns to pick the perfect one. *g* Pros and cons to anything, I guess!

Date: 2008-02-03 07:12 pm (UTC)BTW, is there a link anywhere that would allow me to keep track of you at IJ? I'm not a member there (can only just cope over here!). I know you said you were using it as a sort of back-up but I'd so hate to miss anything of yours:-)

Date: 2008-02-03 09:08 pm (UTC)My journal at IJ is almost the same link as the one here: http://paian.insanejournal.com/. Aside from me using it to interact over there, mostly it's a mirror of fics and reading logs, but it's great to know you're saving the link -- that makes the backup useful. :-)
