Why This Must Be Read:
I often enjoy reading fics about Jack's life before he came to the SGC. This is a powerfully done story about how random events in life form a person in the present. We follow Jack through a few events that transformed his life to what it is today at the SGC...this includes his time as a prisoner of war, Charlie's death, and the first mission to Abydos. The author has a very interesting writing style--it's pace comes off intense and highly emotional, but very true to the deeper/hidden parts of Jack's personality. Also scenes from the movie and show were woven into the fic quite well. But mostly it is very touching. I actually teared up on this one folks, which doesn't happen often for me! :)
