Why This Must Be Read: I've been waiting for a fic like this for a while now. One where Sam and Jack try to find their way into a real relationship after season 8. This one does that beautifully. It's angsty, because, well, it's Rowan writing the fic, and that's what she does. It's Sam making things more complicated than they need to be, because it's been a long eight years of she and Jack waiting to be together, and that HAS to be nerve-wracking. And because she's lost that steady hand of command that was always at her back. She may have Jack in other ways, but she's still out there in the thick of battle while he's sitting behind a desk in Washington. It's an abrupt, aching change that she struggles to overcome, especially after the events of Company of Thieves. And Jack? Jack has simply always loved her, and that's enough.

If you're looking for an established relationship fic for Sam/Jack for seasons 9 and 10, and you aren't into the marriage/baby angle, then this is an excellent read for you.
