Why This Must Be Read:
This short fic was written for a meme that went around a while ago - writing fic using the first lines of other people's fic. paian took 6beforelunch's line "You sleep in a palace." and created this wonderful, loving exploration of Daniel's subconscious. It's happy and sad and full of the ache of time and history and tragedy and everything Daniel wants deep down.

The entire fic is as long as the snippets I usually post, so just go read it instead. Every word is carefully chosen and the image paian paints is heartbreakingly beautiful.
