Why This Must Be Read: When the SGC is forced to undergo an emergency lockdown in early December, the only high-ranking members outside the base are Teal’c and Daniel. General Hammond appoints Daniel as official laison between the SGC and the outside world for the duration… which turns out to be a lot longer than expected!

Teal’c and Daniel cope with cooking, exercise regimens, shopping, journalists, snow, catering, buying a prom dress for Cassie, and more. There’s plenty of light-hearted moments as well as some more serious considerations; but this fun story is mostly about Teal’c and Daniel working together in efficient harmony.

 

“So, Teal’c, have you ever found yourself in this situation before?”

“Do you have any red eights, Daniel Jackson?”

“No, I don’t.”

Teal’c drew another card. “There were many times when we would be on a ship that would take several days, even weeks to reach an appointed destination.”

“So you’d all be stuck on a ship together? Give me your black fours.”

Teal’c balefully handed the card over. “That is correct. We would spar to maintain our fighting abilities. Those who were designated to such duties would catalogue supplies or repair and maintain weapons and armor.”

“You were bored to death, huh?”

“Indeed. Please relinquish your red Queen.”

“Damn.”

SG! I really enjoyed this (oh, to have seen Daniel and Teal'c in the teenage dress shop, LOL!); and, Daniel finding roses from the General's late wife, made me tear up. Not only did he and Teal'c do wonderful things, they did thoughtful things as well. My only regret....Teal'c should have gotten an award as well!

That was a fabulous rec for a phenomenal fic. Daniel taking Cassie dress shopping with a pre-mission briefing had me in stitches. And Teal'c as gourmet chef (turducken? *eep*) was perfect.

I want the sequel where Jack takes Daniel to Hawaii, though. *grin*
