Sometimes everyone needs a little bit of denial to help them get through - or to delay the inevitable. With fear and disappointment in season 4 running rampant through the fans of Elizabeth, this fic is a refreshing (and at the same time dark and terrifying) look at a "what if" that the PTB would never explore. As always, Miera has a pulse on what I think is the soul of the show: the love these characters have for each other and their willingness to do whatever it takes to be a family.
