I'm your Jack/Daniel reccer for January, and this is my first rec for y'all. I'm pretty new to the fandom, so I may be reccing some old classics that are familiar to some of you, but I figure there are probably other newcomers like myself out there who don't already know all the good ones.
I'm starting with one of my all-time favorite fics in any fandom or genre. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Rec Category: Jack/Daniel
Pairing: Jack/Daniel
Category: Humor, Pre-slash, Ep tag
Warning: Slash
Author on LJ: not that I'm aware of
Author's Website: http://brothersinarms.tvheaven.com/delilah/sgslash.html
Link: Latin for the Novice
Why This Must Be Read: "Latin for the Novice" is Jack/Daniel pre-slash set at the end of "Window of Opportunity", and it's sheer delight -- clever, funny, rude, literate, and altogether irresistible.
Unrated, but I'd guess maybe R for really rude words in Latin.
For those who, like me, are handicapped by not knowing Latin, fear not. You can figure a lot of it out from cognates and context, and there's a glossary at the end for the really, er, choice bits.
"You really learned to speak Latin."
Jack bristled just a bit that even Daniel had taken his stupid act as being more stupid and less act than Jack was originally going for.
"Vescere bracis meis."
"Jack, you just said 'eat my shorts'."
