Why This Must Be Read:  When an emissary from the planet Kheusong-ha arrives on Tollana seeking help against a "utopian" political movement devastating that world, it sets in motion an inquiry that draws in some old favorites from the SG universe - Omoc, Thor, Lya, and Paul Davis - as well as Jack O'Neill and, most especially, Daniel Jackson, chosen seeker and finder of truth for the people of Ha.  One of the first stories I read in this fandom, four years later I still find Kheusong-ha one of the most amazingly, devastatingly vivid worlds ever created in SG-1 fic.  Through bleak and disturbing imagery, Daniel and his companions find the truth, but, most realistically, no answers.  But the Jack/Daniel relationship is a delicately beautiful and subtle thread weaving throughout that proves to Daniel that all truth doesn't have to be ugly.

Author's Summary:  "Daniel is invited to participate in an off-world inquiry."

Oh, that was one I read when I first got into fandom, too -- before I had watched enough canon to know who all the people were. I remember it being fairly dark and sad. I must reread now! Thaks.

Sure thing. :-) Yep, it's a bleak, dark read, but a well-written fic well worth reading. I really wish Quercus was still writing in this fandom.

As do I. I'd recced her to someone else and have been slowly rereading her stories. She's an incredible writer.

I also found myself wondering who it was among TPTB who read this one before Icon was written. Once again, the adaptation doesn't do justice to the original.

Yep, Icon and Ethon are eps I like, but this story is... so much more powerful and evocative. Heartbreaking. Of course, the author didn't worry about fitting in space battles and whatnot to "excite" her readers. ; )

Quercus is always on my list of must-read authors when pimping folks into the fandom. It's been great (and nostalgic, 'cause she was one of my first SG-1 authors) rereading her stuff for these recs.

It's such a shame that she's no longer in the fandom. I wish there was a way we could tempt her. :-)
