Why This Must Be Read: Set in Season 7 after a mission gone bad, Jack gathers his kids and takes them to his cabin to recover from injuries and to reconnect with their recently descended archaeologist. After a promising start, his plans for a peaceful, relaxing downtime go somewhat awry. As each team member ponders the year before Daniel's "death" and his year of Ascension, deeply grateful for his return, Jack yet struggles with the need to keep Daniel safe versus keeping him on the team, while Sam struggles with guilt over his latest brush with death. Daniel, himself, with his still lacking memory, questions his former place on SG-1. An encounter with intruders with hostile intent may just set things to rights. Along the way, the author moves the story forward smoothly and easily, with a deft balance of humor and drama and with insightful, believable characterizations of our Team that portray the importance of Daniel, its heart and conscience.
Author's Summary: "After a near-fatal mission, Jack O'Neill drags his entire team off for a relaxing fishing trip but (surprise surprise) things do not go as planned."
