Why This Must Be Read: In the wake of the fraught mission with the Enkarens and the Gadmeer, various SGC members do some speculating in the commissary about the future of SG-1, particularly Colonel O’Neill and Dr. Jackson. If the rumors about what happened on the planet are true, how could the two men stay friends, or even continue to work together?

In this short fic, Redbyrd has Daniel clear the air in spectacular, characteristic fashion. And by the time the commissary is more or less back to normal, everyone there is fully aware that Jack and Daniel’s friendship isn’t so easily frayed, much less shattered:

Barber blinked and took a minute to remember where they had broken off the conversation. "Hammond isn't going to break up SG-1, is he?" It wasn't a question.

Mendez picked up his cup. "I don't think he could if he tried."
