Why This Must Be Read: Written for the serenity_gate AU (which I'm not familiar with, but really ought to become so), this AU is set around Christmas, with magical cracktastic mistletoe that causes you to feel the emotions of the person you're kissing. Elizabeth and John kiss, then Elizabeth and Rodney, Wash and Zoe have their own problems, Mal broods (as usual), and Radek moons over Kaylee. (Dude, she's totally his type. And they could be cute together.) Except Kaylee is sighing over Inara, and River is the cryptic sage, as always. Set shortly after both "Trinity" and "Objects in Space," the dynamics of this shared universe are wonderful, but my favorite part of the fic is the dynamic set up between Elizabeth, John, and Rodney.
