Why This Must Be Read: In this light-hearted series of five related drabbles, Niamaea gives us Jack’s “best week ever.” There’s a brief snapshot of time from each day of the working week, featuring Jack’s interactions with his teammates, the Little Doc, and his CO. Filled with deft characterization, wicked snarkiness, and the wry humor that is very much the essence of both Jack O’Neill and SG-1, Waiting on the Weekend is sure to put a grin on your face!
Daniel was hunched over a notepad; Carter watched a monitor. “We think it’s motion sensitive, sir.”
“What do I do?”
“I can’t refine the translation any further. We’re trying Sam’s way. Try putting your hand in the circle,” said Daniel. Jack did – nothing happened. “Okay, pull it out. Sam? Nothing? All right, put it back in.” Still nothing. Daniel looked at Carter, Carter pursed her lips at the screen. “Uh…try waving it.”
Jack complied for a good three seconds before he started paying attention. “Son of a bitch.”
“And that’s what it’s all about,” Daniel demurred. Carter’s shoulders were shaking.
