Why This Must Be Read: This is a wonderful what-if scenario that has Daniel in charge of the Atlantis expedition. It's a great character study of Daniel, an interesting AU premise, and a re-imagining of a pivotal Atlantis episode all in one short story. I love Daniel's thoughts about the gate and and the way the Atlantis expedition members relate and react to him. Great fic.
