Why This Must Be Read: Perhaps this isn’t drama in its strictest definition. Instead, it is an introspection of Daniel Jackson and the evolution of the man he becomes through his life as a foster child and the Stargate program. It is written in 1st person and it is truly almost a journal entry. I can see Daniel writing this as a self discovery of who he is, and where he fits in. The story grows out of the death of Daniel’s parents through a young boy angry at the world to a man looking for his place in the universe. The interpretation is through Daniel’s eyes and the author stays true to the voice. She sees Daniel though in a way I haven’t seen other author’s characterize Daniel as a young boy. Angry. This changes the scope of how you see him and is interesting and adds depth to the character we know and love.
