Why This Must Be Read:
Exploring alternate realities is a recurring theme in the Stargate universe, and is a virtual goldmine for all of us fic afficionados. All those possibilities; the might have beens, the consequences we never saw, the romances that were only ever hinted at, the times when things went wrong. An episode like "Ripple Effect" is a great jumping off point for fic that plays with these concepts.
BadgerGater sets this fic within the episode, imagining that Sam has become a little curious as to the different lives (and loves) her alternate selves have. It's fantastic to glimpse some of the alternate Sam's personalities in the short interludes and the sheer amount of references to past episodes and situations is brilliantly done.
This is definitely not to be missed.
A Teeny Extract
"Jolinar and I often find it hard to agree on the personal side of our lives," the blue camo clad Sam explained.
"You and Jolinar?" Sam asked, stunned.
"You don't know of the Tok'ra and Jolinar of Malkshur?"
"Oh, yeah, I know. I mean, I was her host. But only for a few days. She died saving my life."
"I'm sorry you didn't get to know her better. "
Sam shuddered. "Isn't it a little-- odd, sharing your-brain, with another consciousness?"
"Actually, it's an incredible experience! She's amazing. The knowledge Jolinar has shared with me, sometimes it's absolutely overwhelming," the AU Sam explained enthusiastically. "There's so much to learn, it just seems like there are never enough hours in the day to delve into it all."
The blue camo clad Sam dropped her head. When she raised her gaze, her eyes glowed white and she spook in the harmonic tone of the symbiote. "You should not fear me, Samantha. We would have been friends."
