Author's Website: Do Not Disturb Any Further
Link: Along Came A Spider
Summary: Absolute power can have absolute consequences. Too bad Sam was only just beginning to realise that.
Why This Must Be Read: This fic is set within the events of Daniel's vision from "Absolute Power." Sam senses that something is not quite right with Daniel, and everything about the project she is overseeing seems just a little off kilter, but she can't quite bring herself to say something.
I really love the way that Sam wrestles with her inner doubts and tries to justify to herself that what they are doing is "right". And of course there's that faint feeling of horror that comes from seeing Daniel affected by Shifu's gift.
Snippet of Fic
Sam hated having to think about that kind of thing - because hello, this was Daniel she was talking about here, and there was no way Daniel would do anything like this at all. He'd have been the first person protesting to all and sundry that something very, very wrong was going on, and why wasn't anybody doing anything about it?
But he had changed. There was no denying that, no denying that at all, and it was the change itself - or maybe the process of it - that had Sam the most worried, perhaps more than anything else. Daniel had shown barely any more concern for Teal'c's demise than the pen-pushers from Washington had. But then again Sam, like everyone else, had been burying any of even the smallest doubts by burying herself in her work.
