Why This Must Be Read: I was looking for a team fic but since RL got in the way this month, I decided the last rec for this month had to be one of my old stand bys. I’ve read this a half dozen times. It is a harrowing little fic. It doesn’t explain much but it is an 'in the moment fic'. In this story, the author places Daniel in a room, blindfolded, tethered and on a clock until such a time he will be killed. Jack is unaware of Daniel’s situation until a videotape is delivered and he watches in rapt fascination (the kind of sick fascination one has about an auto accident) the countdown until the ultimate moment – when Daniel’s time is up. This is a thriller. The ending does leave you wanting more and does fall a little short but I forgive it all that – because it is so good at what it does – leaving you breathless!
