Why This Must Be Read: Harriet consistently writes great stories and captures Sam and Janet's voices perfectly. The plot is well-crafted and believable, the dialog is real and reads as conversational rather than written, and I always love a story that has Sam slowly figure everything out that everyone else already knows.
In this story, a old friend of Janet's comes to stay with her while filling in at the SGC infirmary. He's gorgeous, great with Cassie, can cook, makes Janet giggle like a school girl, and infuriates Sam from the moment she meets him. She feels replaced in her own de facto family but of course has no idea why she is really that upset. Add to that working too much and the anniversary of her mother's death and you have a recipe for a good read.
