Why This Must Be Read: The fun part about this fic is that it's not what you'd expect. It starts out early s7 and Daniel returns. And, numbers being what they are, someone must leave SG-1. Sam doesn't think that it's fair that it be the obvious choice, Jonas, especially after he worked so hard to earn his spot on the team. And she knows that Daniel wants and needs to rejoin the team, so she chooses to leave.
Her choice takes her and Jonas - who ends up kicked off the team by powers far above Hammond and Jack - to Area 51 and a whole new set of issues.
They, in the midst of a top secret mission, find themselves at odds with their friends and former co-workers and end up across the galaxy just as their old nemesis, the replicators, show up.

What I enjoyed about this is that it didn't fall into the 'poor Sam must be rescued by her hero Jack' cliché. Nor does it vilify anyone - except for the main protagonist of course. Daniel fans may be a little sensitive in the beginning, yet it doesn't blame him for anything, neither does it blame Jonas. It is simply the story of folks trying to do the right thing and becoming victims of their circumstances and those that will manipulate them for their own gain.

For the shippers, there is an undercurrent created by the tensions between Sam and Jack as he deals with her leaving, but I didn't feel that it was too OTT.

A nice long adventuresome read for those that liked the Season Six dynamics.
