Why This Must Be Read: I'm a big fan of the dark humour, and this definitely has that going for it. Great OCs, great characterization of a young Jack injured in Cambodia. If you take religion very seriously, this isn't the fic for you.. otherwise, enjoy!

Jack could maybe believe in an omnipotent god, or a benevolent one. But not an omnipotent benevolent one, like the church insisted. If this world was on purpose, any god taking credit for it would need an excuse like dammit, I can’t do everything if it ever ran into Jack while he was armed. The things he’d seen… any god with the power to fix it but not the inclination could just experience some of it firsthand, as far as he was concerned.

Now there was a plan. If Jack died in this ravine, he was going to go find God and shoot the asshole on behalf of all humanity. I’m sorry, we took your original sin argument into account, Lord, and found it sorely lacking. Hallelujah, we are saved by ourselves. Eat this.
