Daniel's deteriorating relationship with Jack prompts him to take a leave of absence from the SGC.
Why This Must Be Read:
I read this when it was originally posted in the zine "Foundations 1" and was both moved and impressed with it. Daniel and Jack's friendship has been falling apart and after the events on Edora Daniel decides that it's time for him to take a leave of absence and "clear his head". When Jack hears of the leave of absence he becomes angry, enraged and physically aggressive towards Daniel solidifying Daniel's need to get away for a bit. After Daniel leaves both he and Jack have plenty of time to think about their lives and what went wrong. In the end both men come to realize they truly need each other and must mend the nearly broken friendship before it's too late.
