Why This Must Be Read: These are recent ficlits, but they are well written and explore John's state of mind regarding the events of "The Return." At first blush, it might be assumed that the premise is familiar, but the author's writing style and choice of images bring these ficlits up to a higher level. The writing is quite evocative, and gives the reader a real sense of John and his character.
