You can tell otter loves the brainy love between Rodney and Sam. It just leaps out from her writing. De Profundis is a rather wonderful narrative of a day in the life of Rodney. He's the last one to see Colonel Carter, fresh off the Daedalus and you get to read why. It's cute, it's poignant and oh, it will make you smile because there's the classic John/Rodney interaction we see in the show while also being just enough Sam/Rodney to make this a must-read for anyone seeking a brainyOTP fic.

When you get to the end of the fic, it's a heartwarming scene that gives us a little bit more to go on regarding Rodney's expereience in "Grace Under Pressure". It's wooonnderfulllll.

"I almost died," he says. "I almost died and I was at the bottom of the ocean and the person I wanted there with me the most was you."

Sam frowns at him, but she doesn't turn away; she edges closer, puts her hand flat on his bowed back, between the shoulder blades, and says, "You wanted me to share your certain doom? That's sweet, McKay."
