Why This Must Be Read:
1. Read this because fabulous things happen when a hedonist and a sensualist get together.
Okay, that's an oversimplification, but. Sheppard and Vala are the characters on their respective shows who unabashedly enjoy and welcome intimacy and no-strings-attached sex, and it struck me as criminal that in the SG-1/SGA crossover ep The Pegasus Project they didn't even get to flirt just a little bit. Luckily for me: this story. In which they flirt, and then some.
2. Read this for how the characters react and interact. Sheppard and Vala are funny, and sexy, and sharp, and warm and sweet. The playfulness they each display in canon becomes a sort of magnetism between them here, and the flirting, the foreplay, and the sex is fun. Fun, but not without depth. It's not angsty, but the characters' vulnerabilities are there; like the humor, they add a layer to the intimacy.
3. Lastly, read this also because it's hot.

"So are you and Dr. Jackson..."
"I wish," Vala said, sprawling back in an identical slouch, albeit looking a bit more martyred. "You'd think the man would jump at the chance at disease-free sex. But noooo. If I didn't have missions to go on, I'd languish in that stupid mountain." She took a moment to notice that John was choking on his bread. "What? I was cleared by their medical people. I'm entirely clean."
John stifled a straight-faced You should send McKay that memo right away and said, "He's technically outside the chain-of-command, right? Just like you?"
"Yes, but what has that got to do with sex?"
Eat casually, John thought, as he heard chairs scrape to follow the sound of her voice. Yep, she was playing footsie. It was kind of comforting, John realized with a start. Elizabeth was off-limits, and Teyla always had her enigmatic field on; Vala, on the other hand, was making very certain that he was seeing this coming.
