Author's Summary: "SG-1 deals with the repercussions of the Enkaran/Gadmeer situation."
Why This Must Be Read: Scorched Earth is a troubling episode, one that throws the behaviors and actions of each team member into sharp relief against the others' and which raises many questions of what is professional conduct and what is not, what is right and what is wrong and the thorny area in between. The episode doesn't answer these questions for us at the end, in relation to our Team, so this author uses her knowledge of military procedures, protocol, and jurisprudence to great effect in showing the reader what would be the real world ramifications resulting from the mission actions, and what may have played into them, of Colonel Jack O'Neill and Major Samantha Carter. Along the way, Daniel stands firm in what he believes is right and to his friendship with Jack, even if the two may be at odds, in true Daniel-like fashion, while the deeper layers of meaning behind Jack's actions may change their relationship forever.
Fabrisse's straightforward, measured prose style works well for the military hearing scenes as well as for Jack's stark, unmitigated internal monologues, and this exploration of meeting ramifications and realizations yet holds Colonel Jack O'Neill in honor.
