Spoilers: Emancipation (S1)

Why This Must Be Read:

On Janet Fraiser’s third day at the SGC, she meets SG-1 for the first time, as they return from the mission in "Emancipation". Sam gets in trouble, Daniel gets in trouble, Jack gets maternal, and Janet gets to go home and shower.

This fic is relatively short piece, written from Janet's perspective as she meets SG1 for the first time, when the return to Earth after the Emancipation mission. betacandy writes the whole gang very well, but what I love about the story is the way that Janet's opinion of Jack changes throughout the story, the reasons for Janet's change of opinion and the motivations and actions that betacandy gives/attributes to Jack. Janet initially believes Jack to be an arrogant, chauvinistic Airman; one of the proponents of the this man's army philosophy, but Jack's actions, concern for his Sam/his team and his reasoning for such concern makes Janet reconsider. As well as a fantastic Jack, this fic shows the groundwork for a team that would last for years to come.
