A quick question: I asked about a rec in the "Other" category and did not get a response. Should I nudge or shrug it off?

Regarding the thing about not specifically requesting months, I can only speak for myself and mention that I don't always have the time or opportunity to rec. For example, I'm quite pleased to rec two or three categories this month, but wouldn't be able to take any at all next month, since I'll be away and without internet access nearly all of August. Perhaps there are others with the same complication?

Well what happened with the 'Other' category is one of the reasons why we're requesting that no one ask for specific months. We had two specific requests to rec in the 'Other' category, and both specifically said July. We go by first come/first served and the person requesting Hammond posted first. I hate not giving people what they want, when they want, but we only do one rec'cer in a category per month. So when August rolls around and we send you the 'okay' for your request, just let us know that you can't do it in August and we'll put you as next on the list.

It's just confusing for everyone when people request specific months. See? We've had a list for months of people wanting to rec Jack/Daniel. If everyone had specifically said 'January' there would have been a conflict. That's why we're trying for the no specific month request. Also, if you can't so a month, you're more than welcome to put that month on the request.

That's sort of a rambling way around an answer. Sorry.

And thanks! This comm is just becoming more and more active and it's really the rec'cers that are keeping it going. You are all doing such a great job! ;)

Thanks for your patience in explaining this. I hadn't realized that "Other" was restricted to only one, well, "other" per month.

May I say now that my "other" request should be put off until September, at the least? Because I'll be wandering off before August arrives, and I don't want the "other" category to be categorized by chirping crickets. :)

I hate to admit this, but I've been inwardly debating the ethical ramifications of my choices. I finally gave myself a boot in the rear to just post them, damn it. *sheepish*
