Why This Must Be Read:
This fic is part of a series which follows John and Carson's relationship through several episodes. You can read it without reading the others, but they're all good, so I recommend reading them, as well.
I chose this particular fic because of the way it shows their relationship. It deals with the aftermath of "The Tower", when Carson confronts John about his little adventure with Mara.
There had been no promises, no commitments; just unspoken understandings. “Did we make promises to each other? No. Was there an understanding between us? I thought there was. I hope there was. And do I understand that if we’re operating under those assumptions that what I did was massively stupid? Yeah, I do.”
