Why This Must Be Read: This fic, set before the team moved to Antartica, is a great little story detailing how McKay and Weir may have met for the first time in less than perfect circumstances. Most people would probably that McKay would not have been Weir's first choice for head scientist of the expedition, and this fic says the same thing. But it also shows how through their encounter, she is encouraged otherwise.
