Why This Must Be Read:
This story was written for a
tealc_fic challenge of the word "Escalade".
I know I've already rec'ced one fic that dealt with Teal'c's fate-filled decision in CoTG, but this one calls to me in another way. And let's face it, this IS the ultimate Teal'c moment. It's worth reading more than one fic about it in a month, right?
It gives Teal'c's first impressions of Jack, Daniel, Sam, and Sha're and Skaa'ra, and flashbacks to his training with Bra'tac.
I love the juxtaposition for his "scaling the wall" in his training, his enthusiasm to becoming First Prime (as we later see in the show in "Threshhold"), and the escalation of making the ultimate decision to betray his god...he'd taken smaller steps before (the author hints along the lines of what Teal'c explains in Cor'ai), but in taking this action, he was truly "scaling the wall" of rebellion.
Characterization is a real fanfic snobby point for me, so when I say she gives a believable Teal'c and his impressions of SG-1 that stays canonesque, that's not a statement I make likely.
