Why This Must Be Read:
Set just after "Endgame", this explores the ramifications of that ep in a way the show didn't: whether he's sleeping with any of the other members of SG-1 or not, Jack's already compromised, already far too emotionally over-involved for any sort of objectivity. The boundaries got crossed long ago.
This is a gorgeous piece of writing, prose and characterization and insights all perfectly spot-on, making it utterly inevitable and right that they end up where they do.
"I'm sorry," he says, sitting up, and finally looks Teal'c in the face. It's going to have to do for all three. Teal'c doesn't pretend not to understand; he inclines his head, slow majesty, forgiveness, and reaches out to take the hand Jack offers him. They're all looking at him, firelight on their faces, and Jack feels his throat going tight, tighter than the tequila can ease. He can't imagine this room empty.
