Why This Must Be Read: A snarky little illustrated story of the SGC, that somehow gets hijacked by the slash. Oh noes! Does sex with glowy!Daniel count as tentacle!porn? Maybe I should warn for that, too... *snicker*

Deep within this mountain, there was a beautiful interstellar portal thingie called the stargate. Sometimes it cut off weapons and limbs that were sticking out of it when it arbitrarily shut down, and sometimes people stuck their arms and legs in there to 'keep it open', 'cause the military doesn't seem to be too clear on the whole arbitrarily shutting down thing, but then that's the military for you. Details, schmetails. Let's go fuck up some alien ecosystems!

Isn't that purty? I ganked it. Couldn't help it. Credited it, mind you! I think it's the best manip I've ever seen.

But that brings me back to an ongoing discussion I've been having with various people ... it's JUST these two that I slash. (Although Cam/Dan doesn't not having me running in horro, mind you.) And, apparently, it's like that for a lot of people. It's just the one pairing. Why these two? Why not others? It's an interesting line of thought.

I came into fanfic via LOTR and RPS, where I happily slashed and shipped all varieties of pairings. Even before getting into fic, I cheerled for Mulder/Scully while also appreciating the hotness of Mulder/Krycek, for example. But with Stargate, I am Jack/Daniel only and all the way. Anything else squicks the hell out of me (esp. Sam/Jack, OMG BLEH!). For me part of it has to do with the fact that it started in the movie. Since they met, they've had such an intense connection to each other that (post Charlie and Sha're) any other would pale in comparison. (But perhaps I shouldn't be talking about this in an all-varieties rec community. ;-)
