Why This Must Be Read: Yes, Sheppard is a major in the USAF at the start of the series and has to have had at least a little command experience, but he's been almost completely removed from the normal chain of command by the time we meet him in Rising. At this point in his life, on the downside of his twenty years, one can assume that he's come to terms with never being the one in charge, with never having to be the one in charge, the one who has the final say and complete responsibility for the people under his command. So when everything changed and he became the Man, how would he deal with it?
