Why This Must Be Read:

This story uses the framing device of the seven deadly sins to explore Rodney's character, and it does an outstanding job of it. She gives us a very credible view of how Rodney might be perceived by others, and how he might perceive himself. Her writing is tight, subtle and it has a real insight into the character. It's emotionally engaging and intellectually engaging as well.

Excellent, insightful and thought-provoking story. It's interesting how Rodney's low opinion of himself drives a lot of his actions. He tries to convince himself he doesn't care what anyone thinks, that their opinion is set in stone, but his own opinion of himself is an exaggerated version of what people say to him (and mostly the worst of it).
