Next to her father, she looks young.
She is young, of course. It’s not like Jack hadn’t noticed before. When she first walked into his life – and that room full of superior officers – over a year ago, she’d reminded him of an over-eager Girl Scout.
But maybe he’d kind of forgotten a little.
It’s not his fault. It’s easy to, what with all the super-sciency science talk and the way she commands a room without even trying. And they’ve been through so much unbelievable crap that he’s gotten used to thinking of her as someone he can rely on. Smart. Capable. Experienced.
But her father is undeniably younger than Jack’s definition of “fathers” generally allows, and her expression is that of a teenager who just found out her dad is chaperoning her prom.
