After SG-1 returned home in The Serpent’s Lair, the team are overjoyed to find their fourth member alive and whole. However, there may be some lingering effects from Daniel’s near-fatal injury.
Why This Must Be Read:
A lovely snippet of everyone being so happy to have Daniel rescued that they've forgotten to take into account what Daniel may be feeling.
But Jack knows that team is also family, and that they take care of each other.
Some things really stuck with you. Your first kiss. Getting your driver’s license. Landing your first job. Being promoted.
Finding your best friend slumped over with half his chest and face burnt to a crisp, telling you to go and that he’d watch your back. That kind of thing didn’t really leave you in a hurry.
Teal’c and Carter hadn’t seen the pain and fear in those eyes; the raw, burnt flesh…
We left him behind.
Yes, Daniel was safe now and his wounds had been healed, but that didn’t mean there were no scars. You didn’t walk away from something like that without lasting effects, and although Daniel appeared glowingly happy to be reunited with the rest of the team, Jack detected an almost hidden tenseness in his expression, a subtle sign that all was not completely well.
Jack broke off his embrace with a pat to both of Daniel’s cheeks and stepped back to watch Carter’s arms encircle him. Teal’c dipped his head in a respectful bow, a satisfied smile on the Jaffa’s usually impassive face. “I am relieved to see you well, Daniel Jackson,” the big man intoned.
