“Hey, Merrin.”
The child looked up from her coloring. Her smile didn’t change as her gaze flickered across his face, but brightened to a delighted grin when she saw the book in his hands.
“I wonder if you remember me. I don’t get to visit often enough.”
Merrin nodded, reaching for a binder on the side table. She opened it to a photograph of him reading One Fish Two Fish to her.
