Why This Must Be Read: Author's Summary: When SG-1 meets up with more of the energy-based life forms from the moon M4C-862, understanding them becomes a matter of life and death.
Set in season 5, this story re-introduces the little fireflies from the 4th season episode 'Prodigy', but here, thanks to Travelling One's imagination, we see them in a significantly different light (no pun intended) than in the episode. In this 'team' off-world adventure story, SG-1 finds themselves in ever-increasing peril, but with the danger coming not from where they'd first thought. TO's talented decriptive skills really bring the imaginative setting to life (as with all of her stories), and in amidst the danger and action there's a firm and satisfying focus on teamwork.
With only a vague nod of acknowledgement, refusing to conjure up a more vivid recollection of the bitter memory, Jack picked up speed. "Back to the gate, nice and calm." His voice was level and deceptively composed. If they didn't hurt these things, they should be okay, right?
Right. What sounded good in theory was not always the way things worked out.
