But then there was another knock. Rodney assumed that it was the innkeeper again, so he was very surprised to open the door to a wild-eyed Major, who gripped him by the arms. Rodney wasn’t sure if he was relieved or disappointed when a kiss didn’t follow. Then he got very confused by that thought.
“McKay, hide me. Now!”
Sheppard made for the bed before Rodney could stop him, but at least he dove under the covers, instead of trying to squeeze underneath the actual frame. Which was understandable, as, frankly, even the fairly petite Suzari must be permanently holding her breath under there, but it did mean that he had a major lump - in both senses - in his bed and did Sheppard seriously think his sweet, grabbable ass was going to just melt away into nothing because he draped a duvet over it?
Rodney stopped, rewound himself and stumbled in confusion over some of his own word choices; but before he could delve any deeper into ‘sweet’ and ‘grabbable’, there was another knock.
Rodney was careful to open the door only a crack.
“Dr McKay, so sorry to bother you again, but I thought I saw Major Sheppard heading this…”
The innkeeper - Rodney was really going to have to remember her name at some point - managed to manipulate the door so as to see just past Rodney and her eyes suddenly widened with surprise and then mischief.
“Oh, excuse me, I didn’t realise that you had company. I’ll leave you to get on with your… sleeping, then.”
It was insane the amount of innuendo that the woman could wring out of an innocuous word like ‘sleeping’. She couldn’t have made it dirtier if she had outright said ‘fucking like a train’.
