And Then You Say Hey

I am usually *so* not an angst junkie. Except with this pairing, because the haunting, bittersweet beauty of Daniel and Jonas as a pairing *is* the angst potential. Daniel's death, ascension and eventual return. Jonas' defection and later return to Kelowna. Jonas' guilt over Daniel's death, and Daniel's struggle to find his own identity in the absence of his memory instead of just adopting the identity his friends want to give back to him. All of this is captured beautifully--downright poetically--by Danvers in these two stories, the first set during "Fallen"/"Homecoming," and the second during "Fallout." They can't be together--they know it and the reader knows it--but oh, man, after this duology we all wish they could!
