This one is all meg_tdj's fault, for two reasons. First, because she's the person who introduced me to this story in the first place, and second because her most recent rec is what made me think about finding it again. *g* Basically what happens is that Daniel is backed into a corner where the only way out alive is to make a choice he doesn't want to make, and then has to deal with the aftermath. It was written I believe during the second season, so contradicts some information revealed later in the series, but in spite of that and a few minor spelling errors it's a poignant look at how Daniel deals with a moment that changes his life forever. My only complaint is that the author promised a sequel and then never delivered. *g*
