Why This Must Be Read: Upon stepping out of the 'gate onto an unexplored world, SG-1 is immediately attacked and rendered unconscious. Upon waking, they find themselves just where they fell. Jack aborts the mission and off home they go, none the worse for wear. But, of course, their safe return to Earth is just the beginning of this tale. Shortly after their return, it's discovered that a heinous crime has been committed, and all evidence points toward Daniel as the culprit. The repercussions all but tear the team apart (and worse), until Janet Fraiser discovers that there's more of a mystery here than meets the eye. This is one of the classic 'golden oldie' adventure / hurt-comfort stories from the early days of the fandom - for those of us for whom this genre was our bread-and-butter, Scribe doesn't disappoint. Great stuff.
The door opened and Daniel Jackson walked in. Jack shot him a hard glance, his sour expression not changing for an instant as he saw that Daniel's youthful looks were buried beneath a mask of fatigue. O'Neill's normal reaction of concern for his friend was buried deep beneath a sense of loathing from what he'd just discovered. As he looked at Jackson his mouth set into a hard line. Considering what Frasier had just said, Jackson had good reason to be losing sleep. The jerk was lucky Hammond was present otherwise O'Neill just might be tempted to take a swing at him.
"So what's going on?" Daniel asked innocently. "Where's Teal'c?"
"Take a seat, Dr Jackson." Hammond's tone was pure military, the words clipped and precise. "This meeting doesn't concern Teal'c."
