Why This Must Be Read: My AU theme this month is dark versions of John, Rodney, or both. This brilliant, creepy fic by Kho is the SGA version of Dexter, where John's a high functioning psychopath who nonetheless bonds with Rodney as much as he can. The fic ends up in quite a sci-fi place, and there's a deliciously creepy extra snippet that was cut from the final version. Unsettlingly good! 

My name is John. John Sheppard. I don't know what made me the way I am, but whatever it was left a hollow place inside. People fake a lot of human interactions, but I feel like I fake them all. I fake them very well. That's my burden I guess. I don't blame my parents for that. Mary and Nathan Sheppard did a wonderful job raising me.

Eeeeee, you're right, that's brilliant & hella creepy! I can't help but think, if Rodney (or more likely Ronon or Teyla) ever put the clues together, they'll find a way for John to experience at least occasional satisfaction & pleasure without decimating the Atlantis folks or allies. John's right tho'—if he says that bit about walking Rodney & letting others pet him out loud it would be very, very bad.... ;-)) Thanks for this unique rec!
