Why This Must Be Read: Set off-world, this is a short 'snap-shot' fic about how friendship, understanding, and support can be expressed without words ... and, simply put, it contains some of the most beautifully written passages I've ever read. The imagery and almost lyrical tone of those passages are entrancing, adding comfort and meaning to the silence of friendship and love. And I really appreciate that babs has given us a Jack who is a sensitive, caring, and thoughtful man. Lovely story.
The sun was just beginning to set on this world, turning the sky a lavender and rose color that was rare on Earth. Daniel's breath came out in a rush. Jack thought for a moment that Daniel was going to speak but realized that words weren't going to come this sunset, that they would sit in silence and have a different conversation.
