Why This Must Be Read: This story is an SG-1 crossover with The Sentinel (plus Cthulhu Mythos elements), but never fear: if you are not familiar with The Sentinel, it won't matter; just read this anyway. Set in Season Four, following on from 'The Light' and 'Absolute Power', this is one of my all-time favourite Stargate stories. Something is very much awry in Daniel's world, something so menacing that he's driven to run in order to protect everyone else ... but how can you protect against something that's impossible but exists regardless, that relentlessly follows you no matter what you do or where you go? This fic has lots of everything - including some wonderful 'team as family' moments. Just be sure you don't need to be anywhere anytime soon when you sit down to read this, because if you are like me, you won't be able to put it down until the end.

Daniel closed his eyes. His head was still spinning from the medication he'd taken hours ago, and his broken fingers ached with every beat of his pulse. There was no escaping the truth. He was not going to be driving himself out of town in the morning. Perhaps not any morning in the foreseeable future. Not when he had to rely on a total stranger just to keep his pants from falling down.

All the same, he couldn't stay here. They would find him again if he didn't keep moving; it was horribly inevitable. Just a matter of time. He couldn't, he wouldn't let that happen, but just at the moment, he couldn't imagine how to prevent it.
