Why This Must Be Read:
Author's Summary: SG-1 finds an unwelcome surprise on an alien planet
This could have been an episode of SG-1. Denise claims this was her first fan fic, so there's a couple of teeny burbles, but in the end, it's an interesting story. The "A" implies it was written for SG_FigNewton's Soup challenges.
This is typical "mission gone awry" -- on what looks like a boring mission to search for Kheb, bad things happen. Sam gets hurt, Jack is forced to shoot Teal'c (it makes sense at the time) and they lose their GDO. There's a couple of moments of major worry, but I will spoil this enough to tell you that there's a good ending.
It's a satisfying story... long enough to be interesting, but not too long that you have to slog through anything.
Both of them were surprised to find Daniel safely on the bank and the normally coordinated Teal’c floundering in the water.
“Teal’c...You okay?”
“I am unharmed, O’Neill.”
“Teal’c, I’m surprised. Normally Daniel goes for a swim.”
“I’m not that clumsy,” Daniel protested.
“Yes, you are.”
“No, I’m not.”
“Daniel, Dr. Frasier’s ready to designate you your own personal bed in the infirmary.”
“You okay?” Jack asked a dripping Teal’c, cutting off the good-natured banter.
“I merely lost my footing.”
“Okay kids. Let’s go check out Daniel’s building,” said O’Neill, as he finished putting on his soggy boots. Daniel was right...He hated wet boots.
